Travels in Southeastern Japan

Birgit traveled to the island of Kyushu to visit several cities, including Kyoto, Kanazawa and Takayama, in the autumn of 2008. Come and enjoy pictures from her adventure. The trip was part trekking with Walk-Japan Trek on the Kunisaki Peninsula and part sightseeing.
Starting in Fukuoka on Kyushu, we will see the Atomic Bomb Hypocenter Park in Nagasaki and Kumamoto Castle, and several sights in Kyoto and Kanazawa. There will also be scenes of Takayama, located in the Japan Alps.
The Walk-Japan Trek was organized by the Orinda Hiking Club. Thirteen of its members experienced a very strenuous, interesting and fun trekking trip.
