
Delancy Street Foundation And Its Importance To Our Community

Carol Kizziah has worked with Delancy Street Foundation for more than thirty years. Ms. Kizziah and Rebecca Johnson, a Delancy Street resident and head of their Catering Department, will give an overview of the history and philosophy of Delancy Street, their residents and graduates, facilities and enterprises such as Christmas Tree Sales and Decorating, Crossroads Cafe, Delancy Street Restaurant and Delancy Moving.
Delancy Street is considered one of the nations top self-help residential education centers for former substance abusers and ex-convicts. There are approximately 1500 residents located in five facilities throughout the country in New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Los Angeles and headquartered in San Francisco. For Delancy Street, Ms. Kizziah directed a program with the California Department of Corrections and the Bay Area Parole Services Network, to more effectively address treatment and supervision needs of drug dependent offenders paroled to six Bay Area counties.
