<p><span style="color: #0000ff;">CLIR</span> resided for 37 years at UC Berkeley, Extension, San Francisco, and now has graduated to its own suite of offices and class rooms where all of its peer taught classes &amp; activities will be held. <span style="color: #0000ff;">CLIR</span> still offers a discount on UC Extension classes which are held throughout the Bay Area.</p>

Museum &amp; Historical Society, will regale us with stories about this 19th century treasure and update us on &#8220;The Mint Project&#8221;. This new cultural attraction will integrate dynamic exhibits on the history of the region with an interpretive visitor center. <p>Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit organization working to  eliminate poverty and homelessness through the provision of housing. It  has built more than 300,000 houses around the world. In Greater San  Francisco, it partners with working families and the community to build  affordable ownership homes in Marin, San Francisco and the Peninsula.</p>
<p>Linda Knox has been a regular volunteer for Habitat for Humanity  since 2005. In her varied career, she has worked in a USAF hospital in  Germany as an adult case worker, tutoring, and with Project Open Heart.  Ms. Knox has just been appointed Coordinator for the Speakers Bureau for  the Greater San Francisco area. We are fortunate to get her personal  attention.</p>

<p>In celebration of National Older Adult month, the San Francisco Public Library is holding a free Resource Fair for seniors and caregivers on <strong>Saturday, May 8</strong>, from <strong>12 to 4 p.m.</strong> in the Latino/Hispanic Community Meeting Room at the <strong>San Francisco Main Library</strong>, 100 Larkin Street.</p>
<p>The resource fair will be an informative and entertaining afternoon that will give attendees the chance to learn about programs, services and volunteer opportunities offered by San Francisco institutions. The fair will be peppered with bursts of live music, prizes and other fun activities. Among the topics offered are medical and financial information, educational opportunities, residential and environmental programs, and culture and leisure activities.</p>
<p>In addition, free hearing screening will be offered by the Hearing and Speech Center of Northern California. Other medical screenings also will be offered. This is a Library Wise Up! program for learning and living well at any age.</p>

<p>The film received a Northern California Emmy Award for Outstanding Achievement Historical/Cultural Program and it depicts the discovery of a small metal box which leads to uncovering a family story, shrouded in silence for more than 60 years.</p>
<p>Woven through their censored letters, diary entries and haiku poetry, is the story of a young Japanese American couple whose shattered dreams and forsaken loyalties lead them to renounce their American citizenship while held in separate prison camps during World War II. They struggle to prove their innocence and fight deportation during a time of wartime hysteria and racial profiling.</p>
<p>Ms. Ina will introduce the film and answer any questions. DVDs of the film will be available for purchase.</p>
